Where is mobile software heading?

The mobile software industry is currently undergoing a dramatic change where value is migrating up the value chain, from software platforms in devices to web services on the internet. At the same time we see convergence between the telecom, PC, and consumer electronics industries. This leads to new development and business models for the mobile software industry and for software-intensive device companies such as Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and Nokia.
