Gorkem Ercan has more than 10 years of experience on java technologies. He is working as an architect within the Nokia S60 java platform team. He is the project lead for the Eclipse embedded Rich Client Platform (eRCP) project and also a committer for Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP) project.

eSWT: The new open source UI toolkit for mobile java applications

eSWT, the embedded version of the Eclipse's Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT) is one of the components introduced by the Eclipse embedded Rich Client Platform (eRCP) project. eSWT can be also be used without the other components of eRCP in the mobile java applications. Using eSWT toolkit java applications can create rich mobile applications. This talk introduces eSWT to mobile java developers and explains what it brings to the mobile java. Also it shows how to use it with MIDlets and highlights some of the new features that provide value to developers. Furthermore the talk includes demos of some mobile java applications that use eSWT.
