Joakim is a developer, mentor and consultant based in Stockholm, where he helps his clients develop enterprise applications with .NET technologies using test-driven development, refactoring and object-oriented design. Even though he has been working as a developer and architect for nearly a decade, Joakim still considers himself a humble student of the software craft, on a never ending quest for professional improvement, always keeping an eye out for alternative and better ways. He is an active member of the Stockholm .NET user group (SweNUG) and initiator of the Swedish ALT.NET
ALT.NET - are you ready for the red pill?
Many, if not most, Microsoft shops use whatever tools and practices Microsoft push out, living in blissful ignorance of the many alternatives out there. The path of least resistance is an easy one. There is, however, a minority of shops and developers, not content with swallowing the Òblue pillÓ. ALT.NET, (ÒAlternative.NETÓ), is a movement that challenges the mainstream Microsoft orthodoxy and reach outside the mainstream to adopt the best of any community: Open Source, Agile, Java, Ruby, etc. If you are comfortable with the blue pill, the story ends here.
